Welcome to ASL Philly

ASL Philly was created to bring people together through language, culture, and community. As a new and growing organization, we are excited to build a welcoming space where people of all backgrounds can learn American Sign Language (ASL), deepen their understanding of Deaf culture, and connect with others who share those interests.

Whether you're learning ASL for personal growth, to communicate with a friend or family member, for your career, or simply because you're curious, you'll find a supportive and interactive environment where everyone is encouraged to participate, ask questions, and learn at their own pace.

We believe that learning ASL includes building relationships, fostering accessibility, and gaining a deeper appreciation for the rich history, culture, and experiences of the Deaf community. Through classes, workshops, and community events, we hope to create opportunities for meaningful learning and connection throughout the Philadelphia region.

We're just getting started, and we're excited to grow alongside our students and community members. Thank you for being part of the journey.

Welcome spelled out in ASL

Lori Keslowitz

Founder & Executive Director

With dual master's degrees in Early Childhood Education and Early Childhood Special Education, Lori spent more than a decade working as an educator and advocate, supporting children and families in a variety of educational settings. Having studied ASL since she was a teenager, Lori went back to school after her children were born to complete the American Sign Language/English Interpreting Training Program at the Community College of Philadelphia.
